Join us for a three-session introduction to calligraphy where you’ll learn the basics and build confidence using traditional tools including pointed dip pens and sumi ink. In the first session, you’ll focus on the basic strokes used to form lowercase letters, learning how pressure, angle, and rhythm work together. Next, you’ll move into uppercase letters and how they connect visually with your lowercase writing. Finally, you’ll put everything together by working on words, short sentences, and simple layout and composition exercises. Students will receive their own calligraphy pen and ink to take home so you can keep practicing and continue building your skills after the class.
Tara is a bead maker turned mixed media artist turned calligrapher and hand letterer. Tara loves learning and sharing art with everyone.
