Cranbrook District and Arts Council is a non-profit charitable organization. We support the visual arts in Cranbrook and the East Kootenay area. We are here to uplift our local artists and offer artistic opportunities for our community.
We have an opening for a short-term contractor to review our facility management systems. The successful candidate is a strong communicator, curious, comfortable working independently within a flexible, hybrid work from home *schedule. The purpose of this engagement is to strengthen operational efficiency, safety compliance, and asset stewardship at Cranbrook Arts.
*To complete this contract the successful independent contractor will need to make site visits and may require a temporary, self-provisioned workstation.
The successful contractor will have:
▪Experience with facility management, it is an asset to have this with a non-profit organization.
▪Proven skills attending to details.
▪Proven ability to implement systems that are both compliant to various governing regulations while ensuring those systems are practical to access and maintain.
Education or the equivalent in maintaining safety and building maintenance systems is an asset.
Expectations of the Completed Project:
Review:
Existing facility management practices documents and required compliance records.

Facility binders, including operational procedures, safety documentation, and compliance records.
Emergency response plans
Policies with applicable WorkSafeBC requirements and expectations
Complete:
Inventory of facility equipment and assets, and maintenances practices, including a preventable maintenance schedule as required.
Identify and prioritize:
Gaps in effectiveness, regulatory compliance and current formalized best practices.
Recommend:
Long-term operational sustainability, risk management and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
Standardized facility management, building safety protocols and record keeping processes.
Simple and sustainable systems suitable for our staffing structure and volunteer involvement.
Rate: $25/hour for a maximum of 40 hours
This posting begins on June 12th and will be open until August 10th, 2026.
