With Carleen Hamdon In this 6 session workshop we will focus on technique and learn to throw larger bowls and lidded pots, with a focus on form and an idea of how to finish/glaze their pots in the initial planning stages. 16+ Basic Wheel Throwing Experience Required All Materials Provided

About the Event

April 4, 11, 18, 25 & May 2, 16

Class 1 - We will review techniques, discuss what projects you want to throw, techniques to finish pot (carving, slip trailing, sculpting onto pot…) and start thinking about possible glaze ideas.
Class 2 - Depending on skills we will explore lidded pots/jars, (treat jar, garlic pot, small casserole) OR more help with technique and throwing larger bowls
Class3 - We will continue exploring intermediate techniques
Class 4 - Finish previous vessesl and continue honing our technique with practice on making larger bowls
Class 5 - We will throw a “finished bowl” or mug on a batt, which can be bisqued within 3-4 days.

Carleen is a local (Cranbrook) production potter focusing on functional cone 6 pottery. She has been working on the wheel for over 25 years, and has been selling her work for the past 10 years and started teaching in 2022.
