In this introductory class several methods used in dying and eco-printing will be presented. Each person will dye and print a 14” X 72” silk scarf. Some terminology connected to the process of dying and printing will be addressed. To enhance the dying and printing process mordants are used. Each artisan will have a choice of mordant, one being with an iron base, while the second option will be a copper base. Results with dying and printing are frequently varied, so outcomes will typically look different than the sample works provided in class.
Karen has always played with one medium or another, whether it was clay, fabric, jute, wood, photographic film or paper. She thrived when building or creating something. At this point, Karen’s key focus is directed to improving her skills in pottery. However, several…
