Where’s Ed? Summer Scavenger Hunt 

July 26 – Sept 1, 2024 

 

Scavenger Hunt Details 

Cranbrook Arts in Partnership with Cranbrook Tourism is hosting a summertime scavenger hunt. 14 Eds will be hidden throughout our community for locals and tourists to find. Find all 14 and collect your swag at Cranbrook Tourism!

We are seeking 14 artists, individual or groups, to create sculptures/artwork of Cranbrook Ed to be hidden in and around Cranbrook. Sculptures will be hidden both indoors and outdoors. 

 

Artwork will be on display for 1 week prior to the Scavenger Hunt, location TBA. 

 

At the end of the Scavenger Hunt Artists will have the option to participate in an exciting Fundraiser at Cranbrook’s 2nd Ed Fest, with proceeds going to future Ed Fests.  

Sculpture/Artwork Details 

Indoor pieces

  • Ideally sculptures are at least 12 inches in height. 

  • May include electricity and/or water, or other special requirements.  

Outdoor pieces

  • Ideally sculptures are at least 12 inches in height.  

  • Must be weatherproof. Some outdoor locations may have a covered structure. 

  • Must include a secure attachment point such as a D-ring or alternative that we can secure the sculpture to prevent theft. 

 

Installation: Any piece that requires special equipment to transport/ lift/ install, will be the artist’s responsibility to arrange, and assist with. 

Submission Deadline: Friday May 10

All successful submissions will be required to sign a waiver releasing Cranbrook Arts and Cranbrook Tourism from any responsibility for theft or damage. 

Fundraising Details  

Silent Auction Fundraiser during Ed Fest Sept 6-7, 2024. Artists may donate their artwork for auction. Artists may choose to donate 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of proceeds to future Ed Fests.

  • Wed July 10 - Sat July 13: 11:00 – 4:00:  Sculpture Drop Off @ Cranbrook Arts 

  • July 16 – 20: Sneak Peek Exhibit.  

  • Mon July 22 – Thurs July 25: Install at Secret Locations 

  • Fri July 26 – Sun Sept 1: Let the Hunt Begin! 

  • Fri Sept 6- Sat Sept 7: Silent Auction Fundraiser @ Ed Fest

The Second Chance Art Sale

Artists! Are you looking to clear out your Artwork?

bring it to our Second Chance Art Sale!

 

  • All mediums accepted

  • Work must be your own (no re-selling of other artists work)

  • Number of works accepted will depend on space. plan on a maximum of 10 pieces. More for small items such as Cards, jewelery and multiples.

  • Work must be finished, framed, hangable OR work can be displayed in a Crystal clear display bag with cardboard backing (as our prints and cards are displayed)

  • Work must not be damaged or broken

  • Free exhibition for CDAC members - non members can purchase a membership at www.cranbrookarts.com

  • Commission rate will be 15% to CDAC

  • Work will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis using the Online Submission Form

  • Artists are responsible for pricing their own small items with a sticker containing the price and the artists name

  • All wall work will have a label printed. Artists must use The Gallery Label Spreadsheet.

Submission Deadline: May 23

The Gallery Label Spreadsheet Instructions.

  1. Download file to your computer by clicking the button above

  2. Find the saved file, usually found in your download folder.

  3. Rename the file: Your First and Last name. ex John Smith

  4. Complete the Spreadsheet with the required information

  5. Email the completed document as an attachment to kristin@cranbrookarts.com

New Perspectives: A Celebration of Kootenay Landscape

June 14 - July 20

Seeking new and original artwork that highlights the beauty of the Kootenays!

We encourage you to “think outside of the box” for this -- Unique work that explores size, scale, viewpoint and perspective in landscape, all landscape work will be considered.

​

  • All mediums welcome, 2-D and 3-D - painting, drawing, collage, assemblage, sculpture, textile, photography etc...

  • Up to 4 submissions per person

  • No size restrictions

  • Work must be finished, tidy and hangable/mountable or otherwise ready for display

  • NO SAWTOOTH OR D hooks for hanging work. They do not work with our hanging system.

  • Work can be for sale or for exhibition only

  • Submissions will be lightly adjudicated.

  • No exhibition fee for CDAC members!

  • Entry fee of $20 for non-members - Memberships are only $20 a year! Get your membership here

  • Drop off dates and additional details will be sent out via email after the submission deadline.
